Council Members are reading a book called Frogs without Legs Can’t Hear –
which is teaching us to be AAA adults for the sake of our youth and
children – AAA adults are authentic, available and affirming. We realize
that every adult models their faith and we would like to model it in such a
way that our children and youth will want to strive for such faith in Jesus
Christ as well. We are looking for ways in our life together to continue to
apply what we have learned – here at St Andrew’s, at home with our families
and out in the community!
We are building a new Wall in the Fellowship Hall and adding four new rooms
as well as creating two new inner rooms and some needed storage space – a
project that offers us the chance to add new permanent Sunday School
classrooms, a room for our quilters to enjoy a southern exposure and have
good natural light in the winter, as well as space for art and garden
projects! We are very excited by the possibilities!
Beginning in Autumn of 2005 we have committed ourselves to a Year of Luther
together - a year in which our goal is to explore and practice the
traditions and insights of our denomination and history that help us worship
God with our whole lives and build up our community in faith. We will lift
up some of the stories and wisdom of Martin Luther – to help us understand
our faith tradition and pursue the ways folks of all ages can pray, seek
God's will, and shape our every day lives with faith, including Bible study
and devotions on a daily basis.
This autumn of 2005 we have begun another new thing! As a congregation of
faithful folk we have begun a new adventure – providing an internship site
for an intern pastor. Our intern pastor is Abby Leese, a seminarian from
Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. She has already brought us
many gifts: her creativity, a new energy, many new ideas for worship and
teaching, and a deepened joy as we share our service in Jesus’ name.
